AKAAN collaborated with a local community group to design a “Splash Park” in front of the historic Columbia County Courthouse in St Helens Oregon.

AKAAN created an educational and interactive map of Columbia County cast in dark gray concrete and outlined in stainless steel. Granite benches mark the cardinal points. Splash nozzles denote the incorporated cities and historic communities of Columbia County. An engraved brick plaza surrounds the splash area. AKAAN included in the design a new ADA accessible path along the “trodden path” pavers installed during the Lewis and Clark bicentennial in 2006. The new path allows young and old to walk along the path and read the inscriptions. The project is slated for completion in 2011.
